'I have always been drawn to the timeless and illusive qualities of landscape and have continued to work in this area since leaving college.
Upon retiring from teaching in the summer of 2010 I travelled to the High Atlas mountains of Morocco. I spent seven weeks walking, drawing and painting in the high passes and summits above Imlil, south of Marrakech.
The rhythms of that landscape, its geological structure and symbolic shape are very different from the familiar mountains of Scotland.
Walking and living at 10,000 feet had an emotional and physical as well as a visual impact on how I worked.
I returned to the High Atlas in May 2012 to continue walking and painting in this very different and challenging landscape
The images are a direct result of these incredible trips.'
